Privacy Policy
Last updated: April 18, 2026. This policy describes how Black Vineyard Events (“we,” “us,” “our”) handles information when you use blackvineyardevents.com (the “Site”), the Black Vineyard Events app for iOS, and the Black Vineyard Events app for Android (together, the “Apps”). Contact: blackvineyardevents@gmail.com.
1. Summary
We build a culture-forward planning experience for Martha’s Vineyard. Depending on how you interact with us, data may include technical usage information, analytics events, authentication data if you sign in, content you upload to your profile, optional device location if an app feature requests it (as described in system permission prompts), and identifiers used for notifications or advertising. We use Google and Firebase services as described below.
2. Website (blackvineyardevents.com)
- Google Analytics 4 (optional). If a GA4 Measurement ID is configured in
/js/bve-config.js, Google receives page views and custom interaction events we log from the Site. You can install a browser add-on to limit Google Analytics or use browser controls to block cookies and similar technologies. - Fonts and icons. We load Google Fonts and Material Symbols for typography and icons; Google may receive technical data typical of web requests (such as IP address and user agent).
- Hosting. The Site is deployed on infrastructure that may log standard server data (for example IP address, request path, and timestamp) for security and reliability.
- Email. When you email us (for example listing or promotion requests), we receive the contents of your message and your email address.
3. Mobile apps (iOS and Android)
The iOS and Android Apps offer the same core experience. The practices below apply to both unless we note a platform-specific difference.
- Firebase (Google). The Apps use Google Firebase, including Firebase Authentication (for example phone sign-in), Cloud Firestore for app data, Cloud Storage for media such as profile photos, Firebase Cloud Messaging for push notifications, and Firebase Analytics for product analytics. Firebase processes data according to Google’s terms and privacy documentation. Our Firebase project identifier in shipped builds may appear as configured in each app’s Google service configuration files.
- Google Mobile Ads. The iOS and Android Apps include the Google Mobile Ads SDK to display advertisements. Google may use advertising identifiers and related signals consistent with its policies and your device privacy settings (such as Apple’s App Tracking Transparency on iOS or advertising ID controls on Android where applicable).
- Location. Core event browsing does not require location. If a feature requests location access, we use it only for the purposes described in the system permission prompt, and you can change or revoke permission in device settings.
- Notifications. If you opt in, we may send push notifications through Firebase Cloud Messaging about events, circles, or product updates.
4. How we use information
We use data to operate and improve the Site and Apps; personalize content where appropriate; measure performance and engagement; maintain security and prevent abuse; communicate with you; comply with law; and support advertising where enabled.
5. Legal bases (EEA, UK, and similar regions)
Where GDPR-style laws apply, we rely on appropriate bases such as performance of a contract, legitimate interests (for example analytics, security, and product improvement balanced against your rights), consent where required (for example marketing communications or certain tracking), and legal obligation.
6. Sharing
We share information with service providers who assist us (including Google for Firebase, Analytics, Ads, and fonts), with professional advisers if required, and with authorities when legally required. We do not sell personal information for money. Certain U.S. state laws define “sale” or “sharing” broadly to include some advertising uses; where required we will honor applicable opt-out rights.
7. Retention
We retain information as long as needed for the purposes above, unless a longer period is required or permitted by law. Analytics and server logs are retained according to provider defaults and our configuration.
8. Security
We use administrative, technical, and organizational measures appropriate to the nature of the services. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure.
9. Your choices and rights
Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or export personal information, or to object to or restrict certain processing. Contact us at the email above to make a request. You may also control permissions, reset advertising identifiers, and manage notifications in device settings. For deleting your account inside the Apps, see the next section.
10. Deleting your account (iOS and Android)
You can delete your account from your profile in either app. Deleting your account removes your authentication access and signs you out. If you sign up again later, a new account will be created.
iOS

- Go to the Profile tab.
- Scroll to Delete my account and tap it.
- Confirm when prompted. You will be signed out when deletion succeeds.
Android

If you need help completing account deletion, email us at blackvineyardevents@gmail.com from the address you use to reach us, or describe the phone number associated with your account so we can verify and process your request.
11. Children
The Site and Apps are not directed to children under 13 (or the age required in your jurisdiction). If you believe we have collected information from a child inappropriately, contact us and we will take appropriate steps.
12. International transfers
We are based in the United States. If you access the Site or Apps from other countries, your information may be processed in the U.S. and other locations where our providers operate.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the new version on this page and update the “Last updated” date. Material changes to the Site, iOS App, Android App, or our data practices will be reflected here.
